Clarksville continues to grow at a good pace and it is estimated that the population increase has been sustained since 2010. Projections indicate that it has more than 164 thousand inhabitants, which places it as the fifth largest city in Tennessee. In Hispanic Entrepreneurs we offer you more information about the city.

Sustained population increase

As of July 2016, estimates from the United States Census Bureau indicated that Montgomery County's population was around 195.734 people. Which indicated 2.440 new residents compared to the previous year, almost seven people per day.

In the 2019 Census Bureau updated its projections and now he estimates that the county's population is around 208.993.

The county seat, Clarksville echoes this sustained growth in the locality. During the last official census carried out in 2010, it registered a population of 132.929. Since that year the Clarksville's estimated population growth is 23,75%. In other words, the calculation for 2020 is 164.496 residents.

In this way, Clarksville ranks as the fifth most populous city in the state. Nashville, Memphis, Knoxville and Chattanooga occupy the top four positions. In addition, it is ranked 159th in the country.

Clarksville's annual growth rate is 2,40% according to World Population Review statistics.

Clarksville continues to grow at a good pace: the reasons

Clarksville has repeatedly stood out as one of the most attractive places to live in America. Likewise, it is among the best cities to start in Tennessee. So the rate of population growth in recent years is not surprising.

Among the reasons that drive the attractiveness of the city we find:

  • High quality of life, it has numerous recreational spaces and good health and transportation services.
  • Education is also about quality.
  • Per capita personal income is $ 23,722, the fourth highest in the state.
  • In addition, it is one of the cheapest cities and is attractive for those who want to buy a home for the first time.
  • There are also many facilities to start a business.
  • The security level is high.

These are some of the reasons Clarksville continues to grow at a good pace. In addition, it is an attractive city for Hispanics thanks to its diversity.

Remarkable growth

“Middle Tennessee, in general, has experienced tremendous growth over the past two decades. We are one of the few counties that has maintained these levels of growth over that time period,” said Economic Development Council Executive Director Cal Wray. “This trend of sustained, consistent growth is a positive pattern and it’s what we want to see. Positive growth perpetuates positive growth; success breeds success. A stronger educational foundation attracts businesses and jobs that need a more highly educated workforce. We expect to see the ripple effects in the coming years with increased revenues and increased retail spending, which means higher-tier retailers will be looking in this market. It all works together for a strong, diverse economy, which is what we have here in Clarksville-Montgomery County.”

“Clarksville-Montgomery County is, and has been, experiencing a very positive growth trend,” said Economic Development Council Chairman Tommy Bates. “For the past 20 years, we have been working collectively and diligently to recruit strong, diverse industries, help with small business development and create a community where people want to live and raise their families. We don't get everything right all the time, but we're definitely doing some things right."

“We are fortunate to continue to attract new businesses that bring more jobs. They have great educational opportunities with CMCSS and Austin Peay. And they have expansions of existing businesses, all of which bring people to our area,” said Montgomery County Mayor Jim Durrett. “We have been feeling the effects of our growing population, and now we have the official numbers to back it up. The future of Montgomery County is bright!”

Economic development

The Economic Development Council was formed in 1995 to develop, coordinate, and implement a comprehensive marketing plan for economic development in Clarksville-Montgomery County. This strategic marketing initiative and financing mechanism is now the Aspire Clarksville Foundation 501 (c) (3) and is governed and financed only by private investors.

Clarksville continues to grow apace and has shown this over the past decades. It is a city that attracts large companies thanks to the advantages it offers, but it is also a good place to start. If you want to start your business and need advice, do not hesitate to contact us.
