Corfo Biobío announces two new programs to support female entrepreneurship

As part of the commemoration of International Women's Day, the Corporation will make the PAR Mujer and the Semilla Mujer available to female entrepreneurs.

Two new Corfo calls with a gender focus seek to promote female entrepreneurship were announced today in a milestone commemorating International Women's Day chaired by the executive director of Corfo Biobío, Macarena Vera and the mayor of the Biobío region, Patricio Kuhn, accompanied by the seremi of Women and Gender Equity, Marissa Barro. These are the regular line, Semilla Inicia Mujer and the emergency instrument PAR Impulsa Mujer. 

A series of women leaders from the region also participated in the event, including leaders of unions, authorities and prominent entrepreneurs in various areas in order to celebrate women and their role in economic reactivation. 

The mayor of the Biobío region, Patricio Kuhn, said that “today, just when we commemorate a date as important as International Women's Day, I am happy to be able to participate in the launch of two Corfo 2021 regional calls with a gender focus, these initiatives they are an important stimulus to help many entrepreneurs in the region to move forward, build their projects and move on ”.

The executive director of Corfo Biobío, Macarena Vera, added that, “in a country where 40% of households are headed by women and 2 million households live only on their income, supporting female entrepreneurship is essential because it is an essential component of the economic reactivation. These programs respond to the need to empower women so that they can create new businesses, scale up innovative ideas, and reintegrate into the workforce in times when the health contingency has severely affected them. At Corfo Biobío we are committed to reactivating women in the region ”.

For his part, the SEREMI of Economy, Mauricio Gutiérrez explained that, “these are instruments that go directly to help overcome the economic crisis that we are suffering as a result of Covid-19. It is a multisectoral subsidy that comes to do justice and support all those women who are SME entrepreneurs in the Biobío region to get ahead. We call on you to apply at www.corfo.cl or at www.fomentobiobio.cl Likewise, to all those unions that need training for a good application, we are available as the ministry of economy, because we expect the greatest success for this important initiative.

PAR Impulsa Mujer, meanwhile, aims to support MSMEs led by women so that they can reactivate their business or start a different one and that have sales between 0,1 and 2400 UF that have started activities a year ago. It is a subsidy of up to $ 3 million pesos per project and it will be possible to apply between March 8 and May 31 or until all available resources are awarded.

Semilla Inicia Mujer, meanwhile, seeks to support projects with high growth potential, by co-financing activities for their technical and commercial validation, as well as providing access to support services for their implementation and development. This instrument considers a co-financing of up to 85% of the total project, with a ceiling of $ 17 million pesos. This call will be open nationwide between Monday, March 8 and Tuesday, March 30.
