Fraudulent websites

A fraudulent website is a site that uses deceptive practices to trick you into revealing personal or financial information. Fraudulent websites are often created to look like legitimate websites, such as those of online retailers or banks.

Report scams and fraud

The best way to protect yourself from scams and fraud is to know what to expect. Know who you're dealing with and don't give out personal or financial information unless you're sure it's safe. If in doubt, throw it away – delete, hang up or just walk away.

There are many other types of scams and fraud, so it's important to be aware of them. Be sure to do your research before giving out any personal or financial information. If you believe you have been the victim of a scam or fraud, contact your local law enforcement.

How can I report a website?

If you think you've found a fraudulent website, you can report it to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). You can also report it to the Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3), which is a partnership between the FBI and the National White Collar Crime Center.

Also, many local law enforcement agencies have cybercrime units that can help you report and investigate fraudulent websites. Finally, you can also contact your Internet Service Provider to report a suspected phishing or scam website.

If you think you have been the victim of a scam or fraud, report it to the proper authorities

You can also file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) at ftc.gov/complaint. By reporting scams and fraud, you can help protect yourself and others from becoming victims.
