The latest report, titled " Year in Search 2018 ," shows the most prominent searches—those that received the most traffic over a sustained period, compared to the same period the previous year.

During 2018, the World Cup in Russia captured the attention of Google users more than any other topic. The phrase "World Cup" topped international searches and news.

But other topics also stood out worldwide. The deaths of Avicii, Mac Miller, and Stan Lee were also among the top five trending Google searches . The film Black Panther closed the trend.

The topics most searched for in Google by Hispanics in the United States
