Requirements to be a real estate advisor

First, let's review which are the requirements to be a real estate consultant.

The minimum required education requirement is to have a high school degree or equivalent. You must be 18 years or older and be a US citizen or have legal residence.

If you comply with the above, you can start the process to become a real estate advisor. The steps are very similar in all states. The main difference between them lies in the training time required to obtain the license.

For example, California requires applicants to do 135 hours of training before applying for a license; while in Tennessee it is 90 hours (60 before presenting the tests and 30 for the new affiliate course).

In summary, the steps to be taken would be the following:

  • Take the pre-license course and pass the exam.
  • Pass your state's Real Estate Commission exam.
  • Apply for the real estate agent license.
  • Join a brokerage.

Once you complete these steps, you can start working as a real estate consultant.

We invite you to see the interview with Geraldine Franco, a real estate agent, who tells us about his experience. Here you will find more detailed information about the process.

What to study to be a real estate agent?

There are several careers that will come in handy if you decide to become a real estate agent. Remember that from the moment a property is put on the market to sell or rent, until an agreement is reached, there are many tasks involved.

For that reason, expanding your knowledge base should be one of your priorities. Delving into any of these areas will allow you to stand out among other agents when joining a brokerage.

A visually appealing and realistic image that captures the essence of a cottage food business in New York. It shows a bright and inviting home kitchen. In the foreground, there is an appetizing selection of foods typically permitted under cottage food laws (such as freshly baked cookies, plain cupcakes, or jars of homemade jam), attractively arranged, perhaps with simple, elegant packaging (without visible text).

Create a vibrant and optimistic image for a blog post (16:9 ratio). The scene shows two or three Hispanic entrepreneurs (male and female, diverse in age and appearance) collaborating in a bright, modern workspace or well-organized home office in the United States. They are smiling and look focused and successful. One of them might be pointing at something on a laptop screen displaying a colorful online store interface or growth charts. Another might be reviewing folded trendy clothes or examining the quality of an accessory. Nearby, there might be some stylized shipping boxes (neutral or vibrant colors like those used by Shein—white, pale pink, black—but without visible logos). The atmosphere should be professional yet approachable and full of positive energy. The lighting should be bright and natural. The style should be photorealistic or a clean, modern illustration. The background should suggest an environment of digital entrepreneurship and growth (perhaps a window with a subtle urban view or neatly arranged bookshelves). The image should convey opportunity, technology, and success in e-commerce for the Hispanic community." Key Elements to look for in the generated image: Representation: Diverse, entrepreneurial Hispanics with a positive and professional attitude. Context: Modern workspace/home office in the USA. Activity: Use of technology (laptop), handling fashion products/packaging. Shein Theme (subtle): Current fashionable clothing, stylized packages (no logos). Tone/Mood: Optimistic, successful, technological, empowering. Style: Vibrant, clean, photorealistic or modern illustration. Format: Horizontal (16:9 ideal for blogs). This description should result in a visually attractive image that is highly relevant to your article about doing business with Shein for Hispanic entrepreneurs.
